Inspired by traditional and contemporary skills.
The art and skill required to weave a variety of distinct fibres has been vital to County Brook Mill’s growth and development throughout its history. Our small workforce of weaving and textile specialists manufacture a diverse range of fabrics, built on expertise gathered over generations. The “British Made” principle is a core value to the Mitchell family ethos, and wherever possible we source and support local dyers, spinners and finishers, most of whom are within our county boundary.
Our state of the art sample warping machine gives us the flexibility to produce short trials and colour blankets for the initial stage of development.
Complex designs created in-house or by our clients are aided by our industry-leading automatic drafting and knotting machinery, which maximises our looms’ capabilities.
Our modern weaving shed is equipped with the latest looms in various widths, giving us the capacity and freedom to weave multiple colours, fibres and densities and to create textiles that match exacting specifications and standards.
In the corner of our weaving shed sits a living piece of history – our original Northrop looms, which continue to weave the classic selvedge edge canvas we have always been so highly regarded for.
We have close working relationships with all the local finishers in our neighbouring counties for both cotton and wool. County Brook also benefits from having our own raising factory, which gives the fabrics we craft a final luxurious handle.
The technicians pride themselves on maintaining quality throughout the manufacturing process. A final inspection through our trained eyes ensures standards are kept to the highest possible level for every meter woven.
